Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist • 40 Years Experience
I started as a teacher before falling in love with psychotherapy during my graduate internship, witnessing the profound changes that unfold when people feel truly heard. For over 40 years, I've worked with clients from age four to their eighties—specializing in children, teens, and families navigating stress, anxiety, grief, trauma, divorce, and life transitions.
As both a therapist and a mother, I bring lived experience to my practice. My approach is mindfulness-based and deeply collaborative, not authoritarian. I use cognitive and somatic psychotherapy, along with play therapy for young children. For families in transition, I provide co-parent and reconnection therapy. Above all, I rely on deep listening—we go where you lead. I believe in the wisdom that lives within every person.
After years in Santa Cruz where I built a thriving practice and wrote the "Kids Talk" column for the Santa Cruz Sentinel, I relocated to Marin County in 2025. I continue to serve as an adjunct faculty member at John F. Kennedy University and as a member of the Red Cross Disaster Mental Health team. But my greatest privilege remains walking alongside clients on their journey, witnessing their courage as they heal and grow stronger.
The insurance side of my practice is currently full, and I'm not able to take new insurance clients at this time. However, I am accepting private pay clients.
I know this can feel disappointing if you were hoping to use your insurance benefits. Many clients find that the flexibility and consistency of private pay allows us to work together without the constraints that insurance companies sometimes place on treatment.
My rate is $200 for a standard 1-hour session and $145 for a 30-minute session.
Different rates apply for court-ordered therapy and certain other special circumstances. If you have questions about fees or payment options, we can discuss this during your free consultation call.
Yes, I do see clients in-person at my office in Larkspur, and many clients appreciate the option to meet face-to-face.
I've found that many people do both—sometimes coming in person, other times meeting virtually depending on their schedules, the weather, or what feels right that week. This flexibility seems to work well for the reality of busy lives.
The honest answer is: you can't know without meeting. The relationship between therapist and client is so important, and it's something you really have to feel.
That's exactly why I offer a free consultation call. It gives us a chance to talk, for you to get a sense of how I work, and for both of us to see if it feels like a good fit. There's no pressure—sometimes the right therapist for one person isn't the right match for another, and that's perfectly okay.
